HMD Global has previously promised to upgrade quickly all its Nokia smartphones to up-to-date versions of Android. Of all the released smartphones, only Nokia 2 has not yet been upgraded to the eighth version of Android.

The Nokia 2 smartphone came from the box running the Android operating system 7.0 Nougat. Last spring, it was promised that in the summer of 2018 he will receive Android 8.0 Oreo, and later update it to Android 9.0 Pie.

Recently, developers have told that the Nokia 2 has come to an end as HMD Global started to support the Android Go application. Installing a simplified version of Android Go is simply impossible, so users have voiced two options: stay on Android 7.0 Nougat or upgrade to the eighth version of Android, but be prepared to ensure that the smartphone can work with brainstorming because of only 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash -the memory

Now information has come about that the testing process is officially completed. In addition, users will be offered to install not Android 8.0 Oreo, but Android 8.1 Oreo. Users received a letter from HMD Global, in which the company thanks everyone for participating in the beta test, and also confirms that the download link for the new firmware will be published soon.

The smartphone was released in October 2017.
